Explore Sharosugil – Seoul’s Best Hidden Food Street

Seoul is full of vibrant neighborhoods, each with its own unique charm. From trendy streets filled with restaurants and cafes to historical and cultural attractions, here are some of the most famous places you should visit, including Sharosugil, Garosugil, Seongsu-dong, Hongdae, and other must-see destinations.

In this post, I'll introduce one of the best Japanese-style restaurants in Sharosu-gil, perfect for those who love Japanese home-cooked meals and sushi rolls. Stay tuned for details on the location, must-try dishes, and why it's a great spot to visit!

Sharosugil – Seoul's Best Hidden Food Street

Sharosugil is one of Seoul's trendiest food streets, known for its diverse restaurants, cafes, and bars. It is a popular hotspot, especially among young adults in their 20s and 30s. Located near Seoul National University station (Line 2), this area is a hidden gem for food lovers looking for a more local and unique experience.

Often compared to Garosu-gil in Gangnam, Sharosu-gil offers a more relaxed and local atmosphere. The area is famous for its diverse international cuisine, including Korean, Japanese, Italian, and Thai restaurants, as well as cozy cafes perfect for a coffee break. The unique mix of cultures and flavors makes it a must-visit tourist spot for both locals and tourists looking to explore Seoul beyond typical tourist areas like Myeongdong and Hongdae.

DONGKYEONG SANCHAEK’s Japanese dishes may not be exactly the same as traditional Japanese food but are adapted with a Korean style, making them appealing to both locals and visitors looking for something different.

A Must-Try: Salmon Roll Set

I visited DONGKYEONG SANCHAEK for dinner, and the Salmon Roll Set was 16,500 KRW. This set includes salmon rolls, maki filled with salmon and crab meat, deep-fried eel, salad, soup, and a small jelly dessert. The salmon rolls are larger than typical sushi rolls, making them a bit challenging to eat in one bite.

The salmon roll I ordered is different from the usual rolls at DONGKYEONG SANCHAEK. It does not include cucumber. If you can't eat cucumber like me, you can request to have it removed when ordering. Even without cucumber, it still taste delicious, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor of the salmon.

Conclusion

DONGKYEONG SANCHAEK at Sharosugil is a good place to enjoy Japanese meals with a Korean twist. The cozy and welcoming setting, carefully prepared dishes, clean interior, and friendly service make this restaurant a favorite among both locals and international visitors.

If you're looking for authentic Japanese flavors in Seoul, away from the typical tourist spots like Itaewon, Myeongdong, or Gangnam, DONGKYEONG SANCHAEK at Sharosugil is a fantastic choice!
